Samantha…

Let me tell you a little something about Samantha.

She was my intern at Real Radio – was actually referred to as “my” intern because of the amount of tension that was in the air at that time. (If you’re not sure what I’m referencing please make sure and check out her “Chattin’ with the Masters” show currently playing.)

So back to that time – I’m going to guess…2012. It sucked. It sucked that she had to witness and attempt to learn “radio production” in that type of environment. Truly. Here you are thinking that you’re going to get an internship at one of the biggest and best morning radio shows, only to realize that you have just marched into one of the most caustic and insane-oh shitholes in the world. Totally not her fault and I’m embarrassed about it to this day. Anything that I COULD have helped her with took a backseat to the negativity and toxic environment that had been created there. Now, don’t get me wrong, I’m more than glad that we met her and she was an outstanding intern but if I had to do it all over again, I would have hoped that she could have been a part of that during happier times. Alas – not the case.

Fast forward to now and the fact that we still have a relationship with her and care about her. We care about her a lot. We’re lucky. There are plenty of times that I’ve got to remind myself of these “silver linings” that are all around me and Tom when it comes to those chapters in our broadcasting careers. The negativity has a tendency to encompass everything.

So – Samantha – whether you know it or not – you are so loved by us and we appreciate all that you do to make our show “mediocre.” You always go the extra mile and it means a lot. You and Travis are family and we’re glad that you’re along for the ride.

A “not so wise” man once labeled you “my” intern. Not true. Not true at all.

You’re my friend and that’s WAY better.
